Monkey Steals Banana with GoPro attached. We keep having monkeys running into the house and stealing our bananas. I finally decided to catch one in the act with an old GoPro I had on the shelf.

A Brown-hooded Kingfisher (Halcyon albiventris) was an unannounced guest in our house located on the slope of Mount Meru, (near Arusha National Park). Luckily we were able to safely rescue & release the bird back into the wild. Brown-hooded Kingfisher is in the subfamily Halcyoninae, the tree of kingfishers. They are indeed, however, difficult to capture the beauty when they are jumping overhead. The sky makes the video a little blown out with the colors. Just posted a new video with Sykes' Monkey ua-cam.com/video/DRYdmnaNVOA/v-deo.html .

    I did not know that about the position of the pupil in venomous vs non venomous snakes in the US. I live in an area with no venomous snakes (unless you cross the mountains) so it never occurred to me it would be thing.

    • @janmartinmcguire9686
      @janmartinmcguire9686 5 місяців тому

      Only the Coral snake which is related to cobras has fixed fangs and round pupil. But they are very shy and stay hidden under logs etc. In all my years hunting snakes in the U.S. I never found one. Here in Africa is a whole different story.

  • @janmartinmcguire9686
    @janmartinmcguire9686 5 місяців тому

    Yes, venomous, but rarely encounters humans as it is usually in trees (very unusually on the ground) and are shy. This hooding behavior is known in the Black Mamba but never recorded before in the Green Mamba.

      The camera was on a mount with a long lens. However, the action was behind me and my camera set-up - so I had to disconnect from mount and hand hold, zoomed out and poor footing situation. I really tried and I too was disappointed. However, I can fret over the subpar quality or just enjoy what I was able to get - I chose the latter.
